Smokey & Simon, BFF

It’s been a while since I dedicated a post to my baby Smokey. Here are a couple of photos I took of him and his new pal Simon (brother’s refugee cat) during my last visit home. He seems very happy in his new home and with his new friend. But, I’m happy to report that he’s still up to his old tricks, plus some new ones.

Sleepy Smokey (Two part series)

I miss my cat. Here’s my baby all worn out after 14 straight hours of darting around my former apartment, climbing furniture, exploring moving boxes, terrorizing his rat toy, and watching water.

Smokey likes water

I posted a tribute to my new cat on my former blog a few weeks after receiving him as a gift. Well, about two weeks ago I was faced with the sad news that my new home will not allow pets… I was afraid of this when I received Smokey-in-a-box, but loved him too much to care.

The good news is that I’ve found a warm and very loving home for him – the one I grew up in! My mom came out this past weekend to help me pack, meet the most recent addition to the family, and take him back to Chicago. Parents and pet are doing well… Seema, not so well. I came home today half expecting him to greet me by darting past me and into the hallway. And I keep thinking how much more fun it would be to pack for my move if he were here to sit down in a box right as I attempted to pack it (as if to say, “hell no you won’t go”). I miss my baby…

Anyway, I knew I might feel this way and followed him around with a camera all weekend, hoping to capture his kooky antics. He seems to tone it down for the camera, but I still find him adorably entertaining. Here’s Smokey with his favorite obsession: running water…
